Nascar 2012 - Race Seven

FORT WORTH, TX - Nascar visited the 1.5 mile long track this weekend. The Nationwide race was held Friday Night, and the Sprint Cup race was held on Saturday Night.

In the Nationwide race on Friday night, Roush driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr., driver of the # 6 Ford won the race. Wisconsin driver of the # 33 car, Paul Menard was the Pole Winner of the race. He finished second after a weird Friday the 13th race. The first caution for the race was on lap 42, when # 22 Brad Keselowski had problems with his engine. He later returned after the distributor was replaced in the car. When he returned on lap 90, he brought out the second caution, when he lost control of the car and spun out. On lap 95, the field would restart, and # 54 Kurt Busch, driving for younger brother Kyle Busch, got into the back-end of # 15 Blake Koch and spun him out for the third caution. Lap 161 the lights in turn three went out, bringing out the fourth caution. Eventually they threw the red flag, stopping the race until they could replace a circuit breaker on the lights. The fifth and final caution came out on lap 187 for # 54 Kurt Busch when his engine let go. The Top Ten for the race were as follows. # 38 Kasey Kahne, # 18 Denny Hamlin, # 3 Austin Dillon, # 27 David Ragan, # 31 Justin Allgaier, # 7 Danica Patrick, # 43 Michael Annett, # 39 Steve Arpin.

In the Spring Cup race, Roush driver Greg Biffle, driving the # 16 Ford won the race, after passing leader # 48 Jimmy Johnson with only thirty laps left to the race. He eventually won the race with a 3.2 second victory over second place Jimmy Johnson. There were only two cautions during the race, and both were for debris. Once was even over a hat tumbling around on the track. The final 234 laps were run green. This was a track record for a green flag run, and the race speed average was also a record, at 160.577 mph. The rest of the Top Ten were, # 55 Mark Martin, # 24 Jeff Gordon, # 17 Matt Kenseth, # 56 Martin Truex (also the pole winner), # 5 Kasey Kahne, # 99 Carl Edwards, # 29 Kevin Harvick, and # 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Next Weeks Race will be held at Richmond, VA for the Sprint Cup series. Nationwide series will have another weekend off.
